Florida Youth Sports – Background Check Requirements

This Florida Youth Sports requirements impact athletic coaches, assistants, volunteers, board members, officials and any person with regular contact with youth athletes.

Introduction

Florida law (s. 943.0438, F.S.) requires certain individuals who work with youth athletes to be screened through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s VECHS Program to help ensure their safety.

FDLE – Volunteer & Employee Criminal History System

FIC is working on the details to assist our member clubs. We’re finalizing how to offer Level 2 background checks for coaches and other covered individuals through the VECHS Program.
